1. About This Notice
This Privacy Notice explains how the Financial Modeling Institute Inc. ("FMI", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information in connection with the Global Financial Modeling Conference (the "Conference"), a free, 100% online event held on September 24, 2026 and running live for 24 hours across all time zones.
This Notice applies to the Conference registration page, the Conference event platform, and all Conference sessions, chats, polls, and Q&A. It supplements the FMI Privacy Policy available at fminstitute.com/privacy. Where this Notice is silent, the FMI Privacy Policy applies. Where the two conflict in respect of the Conference, this Notice governs.
FMI is based in Ontario, Canada. Personal information collected for the Conference may be processed in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union and EEA, Switzerland, and Australia.
For privacy questions relating to the Conference, contact privacy@fminstitute.com.
2. Event Platform
The Conference is hosted on Zoom Events, a service provided by Zoom Communications, Inc. ("Zoom"). When you register for or attend the Conference, Zoom processes your personal information on FMI’s behalf as a service provider, and also in accordance with its own privacy practices.
- Registration creates a Zoom Events profile or ticket associated with the email address you provide. A unique, personal join link is issued to that address.
- Zoom’s processing of Conference data is governed by Zoom’s privacy notice and by the data processing terms in place between FMI and Zoom.
- FMI does not control Zoom’s own products, websites, or account settings. If you already hold a Zoom account, your use of that account remains subject to your agreement with Zoom.
Livestream on fminstitute.com
Conference sessions are also streamed live on the Conference pages of fminstitute.com using YouTube, a service provided by Google LLC ("YouTube"). The livestream is shown in an embedded YouTube player that uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode.
- The player starts automatically, with the sound off, while a session is live. You do not need a YouTube or Google account to watch.
- When the player loads and plays a session, YouTube receives technical information such as your IP address, device and browser details, and viewing activity, and may use cookies or similar technologies, in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy.
- Livestreams are published as unlisted videos on FMI’s YouTube channel. Recordings of the livestream are handled as described in Section 5.
- FMI does not control YouTube’s own products, websites, or account settings. If you are signed in to a Google account, your use of YouTube remains subject to your agreement with Google.

4. How We Use Your Information
FMI uses Conference personal information to:
- Register you, issue your join link, and administer your attendance.
- Deliver the sessions you select, including chat, Q&A, polls, and networking features.
- Send Conference communications such as confirmations, reminders, agenda updates, and post-event follow-ups.
- Provide on-demand access to recordings to eligible FMI Community members after the event.
- Produce attendance records and, where offered, certificates of attendance or professional development documentation.
- Understand attendance patterns, session performance, and audience composition using aggregated and de-identified analytics.
- Improve the Conference and plan future FMI events and programs.
- Market FMI programs, accreditations, webinars, and events to you in accordance with your preferences and applicable law.
- Maintain the security and integrity of the event platform, including detecting and preventing disruption, abuse, and unauthorized access.

Legal Bases (where GDPR, UK GDPR, or FADP applies)
- Contract: registering you and providing access to the Conference you requested.
- Consent: marketing communications where consent is required, sharing your details with sponsors, and any optional camera, microphone, or profile information you choose to provide.
- Legitimate interests: event administration, security, analytics, service improvement, and direct marketing to existing contacts, balanced against your rights.
- Legal obligation: compliance with applicable law and record-keeping requirements.
5. Recording of Sessions
Conference sessions are recorded.
- Recordings capture presenter audio, video, and shared screens, and may capture chat, Q&A questions, poll results, and the names of participants who ask questions or otherwise contribute.
- Attendees are muted and off-camera by default. If you turn on your camera or microphone, or speak during a live Q&A, your image, voice, name, and any visible background may be captured in the recording.
- Chat messages and Q&A submissions are visible to session hosts, moderators, and, depending on the session settings, to other attendees. Questions may be read aloud and may appear in recordings and post-event materials.
- Recordings are made available to registered attendees for 24 hours following the session, and on-demand to FMI Community members after the event.
- FMI may edit, excerpt, and reuse recordings for educational, archival, and promotional purposes, including on FMI’s website, learning platforms, and social channels.
If you do not wish to appear in a recording, keep your camera and microphone off and submit questions anonymously where the platform allows it. Requests to remove a specific contribution from a recording may be sent to privacy@fminstitute.com and will be accommodated where technically feasible.
6. Sharing With Sponsors and Event Partners
The Conference is supported by sponsors and event partners, including CFA Society chapters and community and industry partners listed on the Conference page.
- FMI shares aggregated, de-identified attendance and engagement statistics with sponsors and partners. This information does not identify you.
- FMI shares your name, email address, job title, employer, and country with a sponsor or partner only where you have given consent, for example by ticking a consent box at registration, visiting a sponsor booth and electing to share your details, downloading sponsor materials, or entering a sponsor prize draw.
- Where you registered through a partner’s channel, that partner may receive confirmation of your registration where you consented at the point of registration.
- Sponsors and partners act as independent controllers of any information you consent to share with them. Their use of that information is governed by their own privacy policies, not by this Notice. FMI is not responsible for their practices.
- You may withdraw consent to sponsor sharing at any time by contacting privacy@fminstitute.com. Withdrawal does not affect sharing that has already taken place.
7. Other Disclosures
FMI may also disclose Conference personal information to:
- Service providers, including the event platform provider, email and marketing platforms, customer relationship management systems, analytics providers, transcription and captioning services, and IT and security providers, in each case bound to process personal information only on FMI’s instructions.
- Speakers and session hosts, limited to the questions, chat contributions, and poll responses submitted in their sessions.
- Affiliates and subsidiaries of FMI.
- Professional advisers, auditors, and insurers, where reasonably required.
- Government, regulatory, and law enforcement authorities, where required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of FMI, attendees, or others.
- A successor entity, in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
FMI does not sell Conference personal information, and does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising except where you have consented to advertising cookies as described in Section 9.
8. International Transfers
Conference personal information may be transferred to, stored in, and accessed from countries other than your own, including Canada and the United States, whose data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction.
Where FMI transfers personal information from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, it does so under an adequacy decision where one applies, or otherwise under Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or another lawful transfer mechanism, together with appropriate technical and organizational safeguards. A copy of the relevant safeguards may be requested at privacy@fminstitute.com.
9. Cookies and Tracking
FMI and its service providers use commonly used tools such as cookies, web beacons, pixels, and similar technologies on the Conference pages of fminstitute.com to operate the registration process, remember your preferences, measure performance, and, where permitted, deliver and measure advertising.
Cookie categories used are necessary, functional, performance, analytics, and advertisement. You may manage non-essential cookies through the cookie banner or your browser settings. Refusing non-essential cookies does not prevent you from registering for or attending the Conference. The event platform sets its own cookies, which are governed by the platform provider’s cookie practices. The embedded YouTube player on the livestream pages may also set cookies or similar technologies when it plays, which are governed by Google’s privacy and cookie practices.
10. Data Retention
- Registration and attendance records are retained for the duration of the relationship and for as long as needed for the purposes described in this Notice, including reporting, audit, and legal defence.
- Chat, Q&A, and poll data are retained with the associated session records.
- Recordings are retained on an ongoing basis for educational, archival, and promotional use, subject to Section 5.
- Marketing contact data is retained until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent, and thereafter in a suppression list so that FMI can honour your preference.
