The FMI’s financial modeling certifications are internationally recognized credentials for advanced Microsoft Excel, financial analysis and financial modeling skills. Level 1: Advanced Financial Modeler (AFM)

The Advanced Financial Modeler (AFM) is the first of three certification levels offered by the FMI. The AFM exam tests a candidate’s technical modeling ability through building an integrated three statement model over the course of four hours. Participants who pass the exam will achieve the Advanced Financial Modeler credential.

Level 2: Chartered Financial Modeler (CFM)

The Level 2 Chartered Financial Modeler (CFM) builds on the topics covered in the Level 1 Exam. During the CFM Exam candidates will be faced with problem solving scenarios where they will have to demonstrate an advanced and thorough understanding of financial modeling, financial analysis, and advanced excel.

Level 2: Chartered Financial Modeler (CFM)

The Level 2 Chartered Financial Modeler (CFM) builds on the topics covered in the Level 1 Exam. During the CFM Exam candidates will be faced with problem solving scenarios where they will have to demonstrate an advanced and thorough understanding of financial modeling, financial analysis, and advanced excel.

Level 3: Master Financial Modeler (MFM)

The Level 3: Master Financial Modeler (MFM) is the highest level of certification achievable. Experts who complete the MFM can support the increasingly complex forecasting and financial analysis needs of global organizations and effectively translate business strategies into analytical advantage.

Exams are held at physical testing centres around the world. In-person exams are the gold standard for certifications in the finance industry, such as the CFA®.

No Multiple-Choice

Exams are computer-based and done in Excel. The FMI requires candidates to actually demonstrate their financial modeling proficiency by modeling in Excel.
