Why the AFM matters now
AI can generate financial model outputs faster than ever. But financial modeling still requires professionals who can challenge assumptions, validate logic, and explain what the numbers mean.
The AFM is for finance professionals who want to demonstrate the technical skill to build a three-statement financial model from scratch and the judgment to assess models with confidence, whether they are built by people or supported by AI.
The AFM validates that you can apply technical modeling skills under time constraints, from scratch and without templates.
The AFM helps demonstrate your ability to communicate financial logic to clients, stakeholders and senior colleagues.
Skilled financial modelers interpret context, challenge assumptions, and stand behind financial conclusions.
Included with the AFM
The conference ran for 24 continuous hours across five themes. Registering for the AFM brings the whole library with it, alongside the learning resources.
All thirty talks across Excel, technical modeling, AI, industry insight and career. Nothing held back for a higher tier.
Sessions from practitioners at EY, PwC, KPMG, Deloitte, Google, Microsoft and Bloomberg, to work through while you prepare for the exam.
Sessions are grouped the way the conference ran, so you can follow one theme end to end instead of hunting.

What the AFM certifies
The Advanced Financial Modeler accreditation is earned through a four-hour proctored exam. Candidates are given a real-world business scenario and asked to build a three-statement financial model from scratch, with no templates and no pre-built structures. The exam is graded by experienced financial modeling practitioners.
Build a complete, integrated three-statement model from a real-world case, including the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow, without templates or shortcuts.
Select, justify and defend the assumptions that drive the model. The AFM tests whether you understand the business problem, not just the spreadsheet mechanics.
Review an unfamiliar model, identify errors and explain conclusions to decision-makers: the skills that matter at the table, not just at the desk.
